Iron County Community Hospital Expansion | Iron River, Michigan

Gundlach Champion provided construction services which consisted of an expansion on the hospital’s north side that contained a new purchasing office, receiving area, central supply, women’s locker room, clean and soiled linen rooms, and a maintenance shop. The south side expansion included two operating rooms, a recovery area, scope room, central supply area, family counseling, and a physician’s lounge area. The radiology area received an ultrasound room, mammogram space, film files and reading area, patient and family waiting rooms, and additional offices.

The remodeling was performed around normal hospital activities, which required an extensive coordination effort. Special scheduling coordination was done on this project since construction was simultaneously being performed on two separate sides of the hospital.
