Gundlach Champion (GCI) was contracted to perform electrical work on this project. This work consisted of converting the primary service to a single 277/480 volt, 3000 Amp service installed in the existing electrical room. GCI was also responsible for providing back-feeds to the two existing secondary voltage service entrances to the building, and providing a new electrical connection to the air cooled chiller on the roof.
Additionally, a 500kW diesel generator and all associated mechanical and fuel systems were added, as well as three automatic transfer switches. These created three emergency power system branches: Life Safety, Critical Power, and Optional Equipment Power.
GCI was able to perform this work with no disruption to the
day-to-day hospital operations.
