You need a contractor that understands public facility construction
Our firm began in 1898 with the expansion of counties and their services in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Over our 116 plus history, we have built courthouses, jails, fire halls, schools, municipal service centers, wastewater treatment, and vehicle maintenance facilities. Today, we continue with these same endeavors, now including professional and feasibility studies, in counties throughout the upper Midwest. Completed public facility projects are listed below. We spend the time needed to learn about the goals of your project. The insight we gain in our programming and design phase results in a building that meets your specific needs while having a positive impact on your staff and community.
As a one-stop-shop for public facility construction services, we have the knowledge and expertise to help walk you through the complexity of a public facilities construction project. Because of our experience with many municipalities, we understand the politics involved getting approval for a construction project. To assist, we will provide all necessary information, attend meetings, and if needed, schedule special meetings with the key people to assure the process and expected deliverables are understood throughout the project. During preconstruction, we can help you select the best construction delivery system, choose an engineering firm, work with the team through the design phase, bid the project out, and build it.
Experienced in building successful public facilities projects
Gundlach Champion has built several public construction projects ranging in size, scope, and complexity throughout the Upper Peninsula, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. With employees living in nearly every county in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, it is our preference to hire field craft from the locale of the project whenever possible. We have access to skilled, local subcontractors that know the area and are nearby should there be any issues. Through our longstanding experience in the Northern Great Lakes region, we have established relationships with many trusted subcontractors and suppliers to get a quality job done safely, on time, and within budget.
Building in the Great Lakes region presents unique challenges. We understand what it takes to complete our construction projects during extreme weather conditions, safely and on time. Our flexibility allows us to adhere to tight schedules. We will work overtime, multiple shifts, fast track schedules, or around existing operations to accommodate your timeline or adverse weather.
We understand that cost overruns cause frustrations for the owner and we use all of our expertise to avoid them. During the bid process, we “scrub” design documents to catch costly mistakes. We employ value engineering to assure the proper material is used. If a change order is needed during the project, we will work with the project team to identify options that are the least costly.
We offer public facilities construction services throughout the Northern Great Lakes Region and we would be pleased to discuss your construction project with you.
